Understanding Double Booking Protection
One of the most common questions from mentors and evaluators is: "What happens if I already have something in my personal calendar — will someone still be able to book a session with me at that time?"
The answer is no — as long as your calendar is connected.
How It Works
When you connect your Google Calendar or Microsoft Calendar to AcceleratorApp via User Integrations, the platform automatically reads your existing calendar events and blocks the corresponding time slots from your availability. This means:
- If you have a meeting, appointment, or any other event in your personal calendar, that time will not appear as available for booking in AcceleratorApp.
- Anyone trying to book a session with you will only see the slots that are genuinely free in your schedule.
- Your personal calendar events are never visible to other users — the integration only uses them to block unavailable times. No one can see what you have scheduled or any details about your events.
This protection works continuously — as new events are added to your personal calendar, the corresponding slots are blocked in AcceleratorApp automatically.
This only works when your calendar is connected. If you have not linked your calendar yet, AcceleratorApp has no visibility into your external commitments and double bookings can occur.
Best Practices
- Connect your calendar before setting your availability. Linking your calendar first ensures that your existing commitments are already factored in when you define your available slots.
- Keep your calendar integration active. If you disconnect your calendar, the double booking protection stops working immediately — new bookings could be made over existing commitments.
- Add personal blocks to your calendar for focus time. Since AcceleratorApp reads any event in your calendar as a block, you can add personal placeholder events (e.g. "Focus time" or "Lunch") to reserve time you do not want booked.
